2011 VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Dates Volunteers Needed
Friday - Sunday, July 29 - August 7 for a Three-Day Professional Tournament
Cart Drivers: will follow professional players and carry their bags during play. Must be 18 or older and an experienced golfer (and know golf etiquette). 1 person per cart. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.
Marshals: assisting with crowd and noise control in heavily trafficked areas. Marshals should be knowledgeable in golf etiquette and willing to address fans. Knowledge of golf etiquette important but not required. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY, & SUNDAY.
Spotters and Timers: watch for stray tee shots and assist in locating lost golf balls in a designated area of course, tracking and recording pace of play, report slow play to officials. Volunteers must be able to walk to and from their hole/tee assignment. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.
Scoring: will post scores to main scoreboard or on-course scoreboards, double check player’s score cards in scoring tents, or assist with posting to real-time scoring. Volunteers should have a basic knowledge of golf scoring and/or be computer literate. Also, if play is delayed, your shift may be extended. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.
Standard Bearers: will walk the course and carry standard bearer sign with the names of the players and their scores during the second and third rounds. Will update scores as play progresses and radio scores to clubhouse. Shift will be a minimum of 5 hours. Must be able to carry approximately 10-15 pounds for 18-holes. Volunteers needed SATURDAY AND SUNDAY.
Guest Starters: will announce players on 1st and 10th tees. Must have strong voice and professional demeanor. Volunteers are needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.
Hospitality: Will assist in replenishing on-course supplies and keeping tee boxes neat. Work with clubhouse staff to stock and replenish hospitality meals for players and volunteers. Must be able to drive golf cart and lift cases of water. Knowledge of golf etiquette a must. Food service experience helpful. Volunteers needed WEDNESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.
Volunteer Tent: greet and register volunteers, provide general information, distribute pairing sheets and programs. Friendliness and welcoming demeanor a must. Tent will act as headquarters for volunteers and communication. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY, & SUNDAY.
Special Events: Assist with the management of the various events held prior to tournament play. Events include the Pro-Jr. Challenge presented by Nice N Easy, Meet the Pros Party, Pro-Am, and Junior Clinic. Volunteers needed TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY.
Parking/Gate Attendants: direct spectators to designated parking areas, monitor parking lots as they become full and redirect traffic as appropriate, collect tickets and check parking passes. Friendly demeanor and excellent customer service skills required. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.
Pre-Tournament Activities: Assist tournament staff with mailings, goody bag stuffing, follow-up phone calls, area deliveries and pick ups, office work, etc. Volunteers needed MONDAY – FRIDAY.
